Das ist quasi eine Gemeinschaftsarbeit der beiden Ur Emily Bear Fans in Europa. Schon in Montreux 2011, bei Art und Ice 2012 Montreux 2013 oder im Bix Stuttgart 2015. Letztes Jahr kapitulierte aber selbst er in Rapperswil nach kurzer Zeit aufgrund eines Wolkenbruches der genau zum Zeitpunkt des Konzertes runterkam und verstaute teure Kamera ;)
Kommt aber zum richtigen Zeitpunkt. Selbst bei den 50min in Belgien wurde Skyfall nur teilweise wohl gesendet. Ich versteh das nicht.

Lustig: Um meiner Vermutung nachzugehen, bei den Fotos von Emily und dem Mini könne es sich um ein Shooting für eine BMW-Kampagne handeln, habe ich gestern im Internet nach Werbung für den Mini gesucht. Als Konsequenz bekomme ich nun auf allen möglichen Seiten Mini-Werbung vorgesetzt. Na ja, es gibt Schlimmeres und auf diese Weise erfahre ich es jedenfalls sofort, wenn tatsächlich Bilder mit Emily und dem Auto auftauchen sollten.

Like playing piano while floating on a suspended stage high above sold-out stadium crowds in Germany during a 25-city European tour, singing and writing pop music with music legends in California and performing an original orchestral composition on the stage of the Coronado Performing Arts Center for the Lincoln Academy of Illinois’ annual Laureate Convocation.

On Saturday, the Guilford High School graduate will receive the Order of Lincoln Award, the state’s highest honor for professional achievement and public service, along with seven others including the founder of YouTube, Steven Chen, and legendary Bear’s linebacker, Dick Butkus. Bear will be the youngest in history to be inducted.

“It’s kind of surreal, and a little scary actually,” Bear said. “I’m just so humbled and honored to be part of of this incredible group of people who have given so much to everyone, not only in the state of Illinois but to the country and the world.”

Bear started composing, “And Forever Free...,” an original orchestral piece featuring a 70-piece symphony plus choir, about a year ago.

“When I was commissioned to compose the piece, the event organizers and I discussed the idea that the music should celebrate the spirit of Abraham Lincoln and the Lincoln Awards,” she said, “so I really kept that in mind when I was writing the music.”

“I’m so excited to hear the music brought to life by the orchestra,” Bear said. “There’s always that one magical moment when you hear a piece played for the first time. It’s a one-of-a-kind feeling.”

For those who remember Bear as Rockford’s pint-sized piano prodigy — the little girl in the pink dress who stunned audiences on the Ellen DeGeneres Show — the pianist, composer and songwriter has grown into a multi-faceted young lady who is spreading her wings into new musical styles.

Deferring her full scholarship to the Berkleee School of Music in Boston, Massachusettes, Bear has moved cross-country to Los Angles where she is pursuing music full time and had added singing to her impressive list of skills. She is working with Grammy Award-winning producers to release new music and just filmed her first music video.

Upcoming events include performances at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in May and July 4th at Millennium Park in Chicago with the Grant Park Symphony. In June, Bear will be honored at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards in New York City for her songwriting, an award previously won by John Legend.

Bear’s mother, Andrea, is proud of her daughter’s many accomplishments and excited for everything to come, including Saturday’s performance at the Coronado.

“It’s a huge honor,” Andrea Bear said. “If you look at the past recipients and current recipients of this award, you realize the depth of what they’ve accomplished in their lives and what they’ve given back to society. ROCKFORD — The co-founder of YouTube, a legendary Chicago Bear — and a local piano prodigy named Emily Bear — are among this year’s class of inductees into The Order of Lincoln, Illinois’ highest honor for professional achievement and public service.

The eight Illinois natives were honored Saturday at the Coronado Performing Arts Center during the 54th annual Laureate Convocation, which was hosted by The Lincoln Academy of Illinois. Two Rockfordians were honored as the ceremony returned to Forest City for the first time in 47 years — Bear, and Bergstrom Inc. Chairman David Rydell.

At 16, Bear is the youngest laureate ever inducted by The Lincoln Academy, which was established in 1964.

“Being held to the standard of (Abraham) Lincoln is about as hard as it gets for a 16-year-old,” Bear told the audience during her speech which elicited laughs. Bear graduated from Guilford High School last year and now lives in Los Angeles.

Rydell, who lives in Rockford, said, “I don’t know if there are any words I can come up with that would adequately (describe) how I feel inside. Anything I say would fall short.”

The other honorees were:

— Dick Butkus, Hall of Fame Chicago Bears linebacker from 1965 to 1973.

— Steven Shih Chen, co-founder and chief technology officer of YouTube.

— The Rev. Michael Garanzini, a Jesuit educator who was president of Loyola University Chicago from 2001 to 2015.

— Mellody Hobson, president of Ariel Investments, a Chicago-based firm that is one of the largest African-American-owned money management and mutual fund companies in the country.

— Edward McMillan, president and CEO of Purina Mills.

— Louis Philipson, professor of medicine and pediatrics in the section of endocrinology diabetes and metabolism at the University of Chicago, and a world-renowned authority on diabetes mellitus.

Butkus and Chen did not attend the ceremony. Butkus’ youngest son Matt accepted the award on his father’s behalf.

“I think I know my dad pretty well,” Matt Butkus said. “So I can safely say that if he were standing in this place, at this moment, he would be shaking at his knees.

“If he were here, you would probably witness a quiet, restrained, respectful and deeply sincere expression of thanks.”

Chen thanked The Lincoln Academy in a written statement read by academy Chancellor Stephanie Pace Marshall.

The elegant event drew hundreds of people who showed up in their red-carpet best. The ceremony was held in Rockford for the first time in decades, in part, because city officials suggested that it return this year.

“It’s been a long time,” said Julie Kellner, executive director of The Lincoln Academy. ”(The city) was very interested in having us back.”

The laureates’ friends and loved ones made up much of the audience.

Sister Jean Dolores-Schmidt, the chaplain for the Loyola University Chicago men’s basketball team who gained international fame during this year’s NCAA basketball tournament, was in the audience to support Garanzini.

Hobson’s husband, George Lucas, the creator of the “Star Wars” movie franchise also was there to support his wife.

McMillan joked that he had several rows of family members in the audience to support him. While he didn’t have quite that many, a group of them gathered in a VIP area before the convocation began.

“It’s incredibly humbling to be part of something this special,” McMillan’s son Kyle McMillan said. “There’s a lot of history and heritage behind this world-class award.”

In addition to receiving the Order of Lincoln, Bear, at the end of the ceremony, gave a world-premiere performance of “And Forever Free,” an ode to the American spirit that she composed.

Bear’s family came from all over the country to see her induction and her performance.

“I’m thrilled,” said Merle Langs, her grandmother who still lives in Rockford. “This is very special because she’s being treated as an adult. A child has never received this award before.”

For many Rockford residents, it was a chance to hear Bear perform in her hometown.

“It’s another thing that puts Rockford on the map,” said Patrick Dohm.

Rockford Symphony Orchestra Music Director Steven Larsen debuted “Shall Long Endure,” his composition that alludes to President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. It was performed as the laureates entered and exited the theater.

Gov. Bruce Rauner, who is president of The Lincoln Academy, acknowledged the laureates after their remarks to the audience.

“I feel very humbled; these are the best of the best,” Rauner said of the laureates. “Every one of you has made a massive difference in my life and my family’s life.”"

Es gibt ja kurze Schnipsel...bloß irgendwie nichts vernünftiges. WFMT darf wohl aus rechtlichen Gründen nichts online stellen. Ob da noch ein Video von ihr kommt, aber wann. Es heißt ja bei ihr immer soon, wobei das US soon wohl mit dem deutschen bald/sehr bald nicht viel zu tun hat ;)
Das Idiotischste habe ich ja vor 2 Jahren erlebt. Da postet sie 1-2 Jahre Bilder und Infos zum Grieg Konzert, spielt das letztendlich in Rockford mit dem dortigen Symphonieorchester, füllt denen zum Saisonabschluss das Coronado mit 2000 Plätzen und dann gibt es letztendlich nur ein Radioaudio, weil das Rockford Symphonie Orchestra ein Union(Gewerkschaftsorchester) ist und die kein Video wollten :facepalm:

Genaueres weiß ich auch nicht, Veröffentlichung scheint aber in Planung ihres neuen Managements zu sein...scheint dasselbe wie bei Toby Gad.

Seit ein paar Tagen, gibt es ja bei Insta die Möglichkeit in den Stories Fragen zu stellen und so antwortete sie zweimal auf Pop Veröffentlichungen soon...

Wäre sie nicht im Musikbereich tätig, so würde sie sich wahrscheinlich als Mediziner betätigen...das überraschte mich jetzt genau so wenig, wie ihre Aussage, dass ihr Lieblingsinstrument nach dem Klavier, das Schlagzeug sei...wenn ich nur an das Arrangement bei "Je ne sais pas" denke, das sie für Mark McLean geschrieben hat. Sie bestätigt übrigens die Aussage eine Jazzkritikers, der ihre Jazzmusik als percussiv, treibend beschrieben hat. Ihre Lieblinge des Jazz in der Geschichte sind Horace Silver und Bill Evans.

nein, bin ich nicht, aber ich dachte - ich sag schon mal den mit der richtigen Technik ausgestatteten Personen rechtzeitig bescheid @vampire67 - nach dem Geshwin Chicago Debakel... ich habe einfach selber nicht die technischen Möglichkeiten, um das aufzunehmen
Es geht auch erst mal nur darum, etwas abzusichern. Ich hatte auch vor dem Gershwin Radiostream einige Leute...aber wenn sich jeder hinstellt, der andere wird es schon machen...
Vielleicht landet es ja auch für kurze Zeit in der Mediathek....ich weiß es einfach nicht.

Nochmal hätte ich selber die technischen Möglichkeiten...würde ich keinen anderen fragen.

@blaufink was NOTP dieses Jahr angeht gilt dasselbe für mich und Roger Hodgson ist am 4.9. in Aachen (Kurpark Classix) Habe noch keine Karte, eventuell - da Sitzplätze ausverkauft...nehme ich abends Stuhl mit und schau, dass ich noch nen billigen Wiesenplatz bekomme.

Mit der richtigen Technik bin ich leider nicht ausgestattet. Mein Fernseher ist ein altes analoges Röhrengerät und wird nur noch selten eingeschaltet. Fernsehen langweilt mich zunehmend. Die Tagesschau und anderes sehe ich in der Mediathek. Falls die Sendung im Internet übertragen wird, kann ich eine Bildschirmaufzeichnung machen. Dabei lässt die Bildqualität natürlich nach, aber andere Optionen habe ich nicht.

Michael Ghegan ist bei „Breakfast in America“ mehrmals groß im Bild. Schade, dass Supertramps „School“ nicht dabei ist, mit Emily Bear am Flügel.

wobei sie ja jetzz schon sehr viel Sendezeit bekam, School wäre aber schon toll gewesen. Michael Ghegan bekam übrigens an dem Abend in Köln (ich war ja da) Sonderapplaus nach "Breakfast in America" - Roger Hogson stellte ihn vor nach dem Song und man wollte wohl direkt weiter machen - war nicht bestimmt 1 Minute + - man sah im Gesicht von Michael Gheghan, dass er sich sehr freute.

Das Gesetz wird in den USA sehr streng gehandhabt. Mein Chicagoer Freund berichtete vom Kauf einer Flasche Wein bei einer Kassiererin unter 21. Sie bat meinen Freund die Flasche selbst über den Scanner der Kasse zu schieben, weil sie die Flasche nicht anfassen dürfte. :)

Ergänzung:

Noch eine Anekdote: Vor zwei Jahren in New York im Supermarkt, etwa 100 Meter von unserem Apartment entfernt. Hinter der Kasse luden wir alles Gekaufte in unsere Rucksäcke. Für den Sixpack Bier fand sich kein Platz mehr. „Kein Problem“ sagte ich, „den trage ich so“.
Mein amerikanischer Freund: „Den kannst du so nicht tragen.“
„Doch das geht, kein Problem.“
Mit etwas strengerer Stimme: „Christian, du kannst ihn nicht so tragen!“
Das ging ein paar Mal hin und her, bis ich begriff, dass er sagen wollte, ich darf den Sixpack die 100 Meter nicht unverhüllt über die Straße bewegen.

Die gute Seite dieser strengen Regeln ist, dass es keine Saufgelage in den Parks und anderswo draußen gibt. Wo gefeiert wird, geht es zumeist ganz friedlich zu.

Emilys schilderte ja im Interview vor dem letzjährigen Leavensworth Konzert, wie sie mit Familie im Urlaub auf einer Insel war - und an einem Tag zu einer viel kleineren Insel fuhr nicht größer als das Restaurant in welchem sie interviewt wurde(wo am Tag wohl auch nur 20 Leute sind - wohl oft VIPs wenn sie nicht von Paparazzi abgeschossen werden wollen) und am Nebentisch saß Ellen DeGenres.

Vor 2 Monaten postete Emily eine Insta Story mit den Worten ungefähr und jetzt das, in der ein Bildschirm mit einem Screenbild von Nancy Drew war - nach ein bisschen Recherche stieß ich eben auf diesen Film und seitdem spekuliere ich auf einen Auftritt in der Ellen Show im Vorfeld des Filmstarts ...würde Sinn ergeben und auch Emily in den Blickpunkt der US Öffentlichkeit bringen (eine Zusammenarbeit mit Toby Gad und ein Pop Release mit dem Hintergrund machen ohne einen Big Bang keinen Sinn) Aber bisher reine Spekulation...wobei Nancy Drew sich ja bewahrheitet hat.

Widersprechen muss ich aber auf jeden Fall, und hier tatsächlich mal aus Prinzip. Emily Bear interessiert mich persönlich zwar überhaupt nicht, und bei anderen Themen bin ich mit @Eulenspiegel oft im Dissens. Trotzdem ist der Off-Topic-Musikbereich für mich eine der Säulen dieses Forums und ein Wert an sich. Stimmt schon, wobei es eben nur stark auffällt, weil/wenn zu anderen Themen so wenig gepostet wird. Für mich ist der dauer-bespielte Emily-Bear-Thread einerseits ein irgendwie liebenswertes Kuriosum, andererseits ein zuverlässiger Indikator, ob im Forum was los ist: Wenn man auf "Neue Beiträge" klickt und oben "Emily Bear" steht, dann weiß man: Aha, heute ist wohl nicht viel passiert. ;) Vielleicht ändert sich das ja in den kommenden Monaten, wenn das neue Album der Sängerin, die seit Neuestem nur noch Lena genannt wird, erscheint.

@blaufink sie performt wohl wieder ihre neue Musik..aber ein Release Datum immer noch nicht konkret, weil wohl ihr „Weltklasse Management“ etwas lahm ist...da scheinen die Verträge zwischen den Anwälten der involvierten Parteien quasi per Fuß übermittelt/weitergeleitet zu werden. Ich frage mich wirklich, was dieses „Weltklasse Managenent“ die letzten Monate getan hat. So unglaublich talentiert Emily im Bereich der Musik ist, so scheint sie auch ein gewisses Talent zu haben, bei der Auswahl ihres Managements ins Klo zu greifen.



Lena verschiebt Konzerte, weil Musik nicht fertig ist..bei Emily ist Musik längst fertig, sie gibt Konzerte und man kann Musik nicht kaufen...das ist jenseits von gut und böse :facepalm:7

Die Gründe können für die Verzögerung können mannigfaltig sein: mangelnde Kapazitäten – wer weiß wo, marktstrategische Erwägungen, künstlerische Bedenken – vielleicht ist jemand noch nicht zufrieden.

Im letzten Sommer dachte ich, dass die Fotos für die Vermarktung und vielleicht auch für das Cover bereits gemacht wären. (Ich denke an die Bilder auf dem Eisenbahngleis und dem alten Auto in der Mojave.)

Hoffe ich auch, wobei ich einigen Leuten in den letzten Wochen ..gegangen bin, aber das Handling des Managements war sowas jenseits von gut und böse..

Da wird der einzige musikalische Act des Abends, der etwas Neues bringt, im Promotext zwischen "nostalgic animated snack bar commercials" und "Little Mermaid themed contests" gepackt. Im Promovideo und auf dem Plakat taucht sie gar nicht auf. Wenn man jetzt noch weiß, dass der Organisator der Disney Konzerte der Chef ihrer Filmmusikmanagement Firma ist...die ganze Promo ist so lieblos. Jeder Bienenzüchterverein hat bessere Promo als der Weltkonzern Disney.

Ein solider Song, an dem es nichts zu meckern gibt. Emilys Stimme hat Charakter: sanft, tief und eine Spur Rauigkeit. Man wird sie wiedererkennen. Schön auch, dass Emilys Stimme in dem Song sehr natürlich klingt, mit nur wenig elektronischer Bearbeitung.

Was die ganzen Verschiebungen sollten, bis jetzt keine Veröffentlichung der Nancy Drew Songs, die völlig inakzeptable Hollywood Bowl Promotion...da scheint das absolute nicht durchdachte Chaos zu herrschen, und das sind ja nicht Hinz und Kunz.. aber irgendwie scheint in Hollywood viel Schall und Rauch, viel Bussi Bussi.
In Deutschland würde wahrscheinlich nach kurzer Zeit jemand ne Ansage machen..Leute so geht's nicht weiter...aber immer wieder ins nächste Fail. Das wäre so ähnlich, als ob Lena ohne jedes Statement Tour verschoben, Album verschoben...:facepalm:

Die Diskrepanz zwischen dem Handling der Auftritte in Deuschland in den letzten Jahren und dem "Handling" in den USA ist so unglaublich.. wie oft ich meinen Kopf in den letzten Wochen gegen die Wand hämmern wollte...
