Nikki Yanofsky

[blaufink]

„Tonight at 8 pm EST, I will be going live on @bluenotenyc ‘s page for a casual concert where I will be paying tribute to my idols, my favourite black jazz and soul singers! I’ll try to accompany myself (oh boy, that may end with me just singing acapella lol ) and I’ll also sing along to tracks I think you should hearIf you enjoy the show, en lieu of tips, please consider making a donation to @naacp or any other organization that is doing great things for the black community. See you later“

„From my Blue Note At Home concert. I love both Billie Holiday’s and Aretha Franklin’s versions of this song. I tried to approach it somewhere in between the two. If you missed the show, it’s up on @bluenotenyc ‘s page“

„I used to try to get my phrasing exactly the same as my idols... Aretha, Ella and Stevie to name a few. I went through sooo many songs of theirs trying to sing them perfectly in time. It’s a really fun exercise and it significantly improves your feel! Try it :)“

„Against my better judgement, I decided to attempt Ella’s 7 min scat in How High The Moon (from her Live In Berlin album) for the very first time... live during my @bluenotenyc show last night. It isn’t perfect but at least I tried hope this makes you smile we all love ELLA!“
