Herbert Grönemeyer: I think, the english language is much nicer to sing along. The german language is very guttural und very stuccato and the germans listen to music very literally. And in english you can sing better. In Germany I am known, that I can't sing.
Jools Holland: But you have an amazing voice!
HG: They think I'm screaming - and that's it. And I try now to find a little audience, that mind think "he can really sing"! So that's why I'm trying now in english.
JH: ...What do you think is the difference between the german audiences and the british audiences?
HG: I think, the english listen to music much more from the stomach, from the heart. The germans listen like engineers, they want to analyse while you are singing. And now I'm living in England since thirteen years, so I lost a little bit the germanic engineering attitude.
