Some people will not like what I'm writing here, and as this is an emotional time, perhaps even
less. However these things are fresh on my mind, and are not new, but I hope they are close to
being objective.
1) Lena is heading towards an international career, not a domestic career, so it was more
important for her to win the EMAs than the 1Live Krone. It would have been impossible to put
the same energy into both. Even Lena did not put the same energy into both.
2) We will see in the future how important the EMAs were to her. After all, she sings in
English (understood world over), not in German. Tonight was a night for German songs. She is
also excellent in interpreting complicated English. The BP songs are too simplistic for her.
3) No one can win everything all the time. It is sometimes better to lose. Better for Lena,
better for the fans. If she were to win all the time, it would effect her relationship with
her fellow musicians. (also mentioned by Herr Brummel.)
4) TBAS is only popular among Lena fans. She has not had an album for about 9 months, and will
probably not have another album for another 9 months. That is not a bad thing, as in general,
her popularity has been rising again. She is now every few weeks on a different TV show for
the entire length of the broadcast. We know her abilities are not limited to singing, and that
other things may be in the works.
5) No woman won a Krone tonight. Also, it has been rumored that Lena was only nominated due to
her EMA wins. That sounds reasonable for the reasons mentioned above, and others have agreed
that it was in the wrong category.
6) It was simply time for Tim, and for Clueso to win. Most here accept that.
7) I have been studying Adele's new DVD (Royal Albert Hall), and as I was speculating before,
I'm more convinced that Adele and Lena have been observing and learning from each other's
abilities. While Adele has broken sales records in Britain, those sales are just a fraction of
her worldwide sales. Their personalities are very similar, except that Lena (formerly) is very
private, and Adele has kept few secrets. I therefore hope that like Adele, Lena's next album
will be on an independent label, or a non-German label, as we have seen that that has been a
handicap for her particular situation. BP / Universal was necessary in the beginning, but now
she has her musical Arbi.
